Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
3D . . . as in 3 Dimensions. When I was a kid, the world was in black and white. I can prove it … all the photos we have are in B&W. Now, coming soon – a 3D movie on Yosemite. A San Diego company called “
3DFF” (3D Film Factory) is shooting the project and it will be offered for sale through their website. The 45-minute production, now in its early stages, is expected to be completed by late fall. A preview trailer for the film can be seen on YouTube at
www.youtube.com/3deefilm. I gotta warn you - you need the
anaglyph (red/blue) glasses to view it. I tossed mine out after watching
Attack of the 50-Foot Woman. Since I wear spectacles and my left eye is crummy, 3D glasses is not high on my fun meter. The industry is driving to produce 3D movies for the home audience without using glasses. They will shoot the movies with multiple cameras spaced close to each other to produce the depth effect. The above 3D camera sells for about $3K. Not bad, considering. Call me when they get a 4D system. I want to go back in time.
Unrelated thought worth quoting:
“Time has come today. Young hearts can go their way. Can't put it off another day. I don't care what others say; they say we don't listen anyway. Time has come today!” – The Chambers Brothers
