Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

Last October I submitted a proposal to the park for the development of a safety video for the Half Dome hike. If you’ve done this hike, you know there are many unprepared people who end up suffering from dehydration, falls, exhaustion and just not having a good time.  Seems like a hard-hitting video that explains why people need to be prepared and how to be prepared would help a lot of visitors to enjoy their experience and succeed in a major goal. Water needs, water treatment, use of trekking poles, good footwear, electrolytes, etc. are all important.  I’ve been trying to move the project along and the park acknowledges that it is a good idea. I’ve also pulsed the Yosemite Fund for support. Word today is that if it happens it will be in 2010. Oh well.

Unrelated thought worth quoting: “You can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometimes well you just might find, you get what you need” – The Rolling Stones

UPDATE- The erection date for the cables is still murky due to the recent weather.  When I know, you'll know.
